The HDPE liner is put inside the steel pipe and then expanded to a close fit. An HDPE lined pipe consists of a host pipe (usually steel) lined internally with High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) to combine the strength of steel with the corrosion resistance of plastic.
HDPE lined pipes generally operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 60°C. Short-term exposure to higher temperatures may be acceptable depending on the specific pressure conditions and application requirements.
HDPE lining provides excellent resistance to corrosion, abrasion, and chemicals, while also improving flow efficiency and extending pipe service life.
HDPE lining is installed using techniques such as tight-fit lining (thermoplastic reversion), where the HDPE liner is temporarily compressed, inserted into the host pipe, and then expanded to form a snug, secure fit.
